CardStarter Will Integrate Chainlink VRF to Get Provably Fair Randomness in Real Time
We are excited to announce that CardStarter, a launchpad platform for Cardano projects, will integrate the industry-leading decentralized oracle solution Chainlink to gain access to a tamper-resistant, provably fair source of on-chain randomness. CardStarters will use Chainlink’s Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to provide users in the CardStarter ecosystem with strong assurance that all actions involving randomness will execute fairly without bias and securely without any possible manipulation from the oracle operators, miners, users, and CardStarter developers.
This integration of Chainlink VRF will serve as a transparent and fair RNG solution that selects CARDS holders in two key ways:
1. CardStarter uses a tiered system to reward CARDS holders with commensurate IDO allocations. Deuces is the lowest participation tier, requiring only 500 CARDS staked for eligibility. Deuces will conduct a Chainlink VRF-secured lottery for every IDO, which selects a predetermined number of random Deuces Tier holders to participate in the token sale.
2. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) may be deployed on the platform at a later time as a reward for CARDS holder loyalty. The distribution of NFTs can be randomized using Chainlink’s VRF.
The integration of Chainlink VRF will play a key role in ensuring the CardStarter ecosystem provides equal and provably unbiased opportunities to all participants in regards to earning IDO participation rights and rewards of varying valuations. We are excited to see this integration come to fruition and further improve the CardStarter user experience.
Provably Fair Randomization
Using randomness as a key input can generate truly unpredictable outputs, but only if the source of randomness is tamper-proof. On top of being tamper-proof, high integrity systems also need to provide their users with definitive proof that the source of randomness they used is indeed tamper-proof and unpredictable.
We selected Chainlink VRF because it’s a tamper-proof and verifiable source of randomness purpose built for smart contracts. Chainlink VRF works by combining block data that is still unknown when the request is made with the oracle node’s pre-committed private key to generate both a random number and a cryptographic proof. This guarantees high integrity of the random number output because the cryptographic proof can only be generated if the VRF process is tamper-proof. Thus, CardStarter users can be assured that Chainlink VRF is providing them with provably fair and unbiased randomness when determining the winners of Deuces IDO lotteries.
